Salvador In Sunderland’s SightsSunderland boss Steve Bruce is concentrating on adding to his forward line during the January transfer window and reckons that the purported suitors for Kenwyne Jones’ signature cannot afford him. ![]() With Schalke now destined to hang on to Kevin Kuranyi after the 27 year-old pledged his immediate future to the German side despite being out of contract in the summer, Bruce has switched his sights towards the 29 year-old Paraguayan international Salvador Cabanas. The striker, who has as a record of goal virtually every other game in South America and has scored ten goals for his country, is currently the top scorer in the Mexican league with his team Club America. "I've monitored Cabanas.” said Bruce, “He's a fantastic player and whether a deal is possible for him, I don't know." Bruce has also stated that current Black Cats hotshot, Trinidad and Tobago international Kenwyne Jones, is not for sale and, even if he was no-one could afford him. The 25 year-old has raised his stock considerably during this time at the Stadium Of Light but Bruce believes his striker is going nowhere. "Everybody's got their price, whether you're Steven Gerrard or Cristiano Ronaldo, and if something out there blows your brains. But with no disrespect to Stoke or Birmingham, can they afford him? I very much doubt it," Bruce told the media. "On his day, you can look at Kenwyne and say he's worth £40m.” Tags: Sunderland, Steve Bruce, Salvador Cabanas, Black Cats Posted: |
