Russia Rout Kazaks

Russia showed no mercy, as they demolished Kazakhstan in a 6-0 UEFA Euro 2008 warm up. More than that, there were 6 different players on the score sheet. Vladimir Bystrov and Pavel Pogrebnyak scored in the first half - and then Konstantin Zyrianov scored halfway thorugh the second half.

At 80 minutes it was still 3 - 0, but then suddenly Russia appeared to really open up the can, and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Dmitri Torbinskiy and Dmitri Sychev scored three more in the last five minutes. It was their first encounter, and Russia have clearly shown authority.

Chances were everywhere in the first half - the Kazakhstan goal keeper kept having to parry shots away - but it was a handball on the 26th minute which gave away a penalty, and the first goal. Igor Semshov and Pogrebnyak then had more opportunities but it was Bystrov who scored just before the end of the first half. After half time it was one-way traffic - and another goal came in.

But then Kazakhstan created a few chances, and it seemed that they were getting into the swing of things. Russia reponded to this warning in a good way - namely 3 goals in 5 minutes.

Truly a merciless defeat.
