Former Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has seen his initial bid to bring Roque Santa Cruz to Eastlands rejected.

 

Manchester City reportedly made an offer in excess of £12M for the Paraguayan international striker. An offer of £12M in the summer for the 27-year old, who only signed an improved deal at Ewood Park in August, was turned down than and Hughes confirmed that the fresh approach was for a ’significantly’ higher amount. However, City’s ultimate success will depend on whether his current employers are willing to accept a suitable offer for a player who has previously expressed a desire to leave should a ’better or more ambitious’ club show interest in him.

Hughes’ success in the transfer market currently mirrors his success in the FA Cup as bids for Craig Bellamy and Scott Parker of West Ham have also been rejected. No doubt with the backing of the owners, the wad will eventually force it’s way past someone’s resolve and new faces will arrive to help turn around fortunes in the blue side of Manchester.
