As the day to day media speculation surrounding Portugal’s star man Cristiano Ronaldo continues, it seems that the man at the heart of it is unfazed and only has one thing on his mind.

Speaking to the media for the build up to the first Quarter Final of Euro 2008 on Thursday, Ronaldo seemed relaxed as he was inevitably questioned about his future.

He said "I don't want to talk about my future because I'm focused on the match against Germany, I'll only talk about it after the Euro.'' Ever since Manchester United’s penalty shoot-out victory in the Champions League against Chelsea in May there has been fervent rumour that Ronaldo would make the move to Real Madrid this summer. Following comments by Madrid President Ramon Calderon suggesting that Ronaldo’s transfer was inevitable, the rhetoric threatened to turn nasty after United reported Real to FIFA.

The player himself is clearly for the moment more interested in Euro 2008. Following Portugal comfortable qualification from Group A, Ronaldo along with seven other first team players were rested for the final group game against Switzerland.

Asked whether this may result in a loss of momentum, Ronaldo disagreed “All the teams that are here at the Euro have great motivation, but to have extra days to recuperate could have an influence”.

The meeting on Thursday is the first quarter final of Euro 2008 and marks the beginning of the knock out phrase of the competition.

Ronaldo is aware of the need to get things right on the night. He said ‘We know that we can't make any mistakes and that we will have to concentrate from the first moment to the last if we're going to get what we want…You have to respect Germany. They are always a very dangerous team, but we have threats on our side too."

Ronaldo will be hoping that he does not have to talk about his club future until after the Euro 2008 Final on 29 June.
