Spanish midfielder Albert Riera has been talking about his determination to ensure that his time at Liverpool is more successful than is previous spell in the Premier League.

The 26 year old had a brief spell at Manchester City in 2006 but failed to make any lasting impression at the City of Manchester Stadium. However, this summer after a successful time back in Spain with Espanyol, the player decided to try again and completed an undisclosed transfer to Liverpool.

However Riera believes that he is a different player to the one that played two years ago. He said “What I have learned in recent years is that any footballer can succeed in the Premier League if he has talent and he is also prepared to back that up with hard work, effort and discipline”.

Riera has also revealed that he joined Liverpool mainly because of Rafa Benitez. He said “He is key for me…All Rafa asks is that we all work and behave the same.”
