Manchester City defender Micah Richards is confident that the club can achieve a top six finish in the Premier League this season.

His comments come following a mixed run of results over the course of the season so far. Following the acquisition of the club by the Abu Dhabi Group and the transfer deadline day capture of Robinho many supporters expected City to challenge for the title.

Richards however is confident that the players can become more consistent. He said “Players like Robinho, Jo and Vincent are still adapting to English football, and even though they've already put in some really impressive performances, I'm sure we'll improve our team when we all fully gel”.

The England defender has played in all but one Premier League game this season for City and so far has been pleased with his contribution. He said “I've been fairly happy with my performances so far this season, though obviously you can always improve”.
