New Tottenham Hotspurs manager Harry Redknapp will not be able to call on young Mexican striker Giovani Dos Santos in the foreseeable future.

The former Barcelona youngster picked up an injury to his ankle in first team training last week. However, Redknapp is unsure when he will be able to return to action. He said “He picked up a nasty injury in training on Monday morning and he'll be out for a while…We're not sure how long he'll be out for”.

Giovani joined Tottenham in the summer from Barcelona for a reported fee of £4.7 Million. He has struggled in the initial months of the season to make an impact in the Premier League and this latest set back will further hamper his progress.

The Mexican has so far managed six appearances for his new club and has yet to score.
