Rehhagel to trim squad by one

Greece

The Greece coach Otto Rehhagel said that he would axe one more player apart from his provisional Euro 200 squad in the next week.

A 5th minute goal in the friendly against Cyprus was not enough to keep the young winger, Sotiris Ninis in the Greece squad for the upcoming Euro 2008 tournament to be held in Austria-Switzerland. The 18-year old had broken the record for the youngest goal scorer for Greece, but Otto Rehhagel seems to prefer experience and has hence dropped the young Ninis from his squad. 24 anxious players will wait for news about their selection.  The provisional squad is as follows:

Goal Keepers:

Nikopolidis (Olympiakos), Chalkias (Aris), Tzorvas (OFI Crete);

Defenders:

Papastathopoulos (AEK), Antzas (Olympiakos), Seitaridis (Atletico Madrid), Torossidis (Olympiakos), Kyrgiakos (Eintracht Frankfurt), Patsatzoglou (Olympiakos), Dellas (AEK);

Midfielders:

Katsouranis (Benfica), Basinas (Real Mallorca), Karagounis (Panathinaikos), Giannakopoulos (Bolton), Tziolis (Panathinaikos), Amanatidis (Eintracht Frankfurt)

Strikers:

Samaras (Celtic), Salpigidis (Panathinaikos), Charisteas (FC Nuremburg), Gekas (Bayer Leverkusen), Lymberopoulos (AEK)
