Spanish media reports have continued with speculation surrounding Arjen Robben. Sources claim that Real Madrid have now agreed a deal to sign the winger and prise him away from English Premier League side Chelsea.

Primera Liga champions Real Madrid have chased a number of high profile players during the summer break. As the season does not kick off for another 2 weeks in Spain they have plenty of time to add depth to an already impressive side. They look likely to clinch the signing of one of Holland’s Under 21 stars Royston Drenthe within the next few days.

Talk of a transfer for Robben has gained publicity throughout the summer. Chelsea claimed the player was not for sale. Robben’s own father claimed it was a no go. However, he has been a long term target for the Spanish club and their persistence is likely to end with acquiring the Dutchman.

Robben joined Chelsea back in 2004 for £12 million and has made a total of 104 appearances for the club notching up 19 goals. Formerly a PSV Eindhoven player, Chelsea are still stating that they have not received an official offer for Robben.
