Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz believes is side’s demolition of North Korea will give them plenty of confidence ahead of their next game against Brazil.

The Portuguese bagged seven goals against the hapless Asians and a win against the Brazilians, who currently lead the section, would see the Europeans overtake their rivals and win the group.

Queiroz said: “Scoring goals always improves confidence. Playing like we did, it is a great motivation for the next match.”

With a vastly superior goal difference, Portugal will almost certainly qualify even if they lose to Dunga’s side. The big question is who they are likely to face in the knockout stage.

Even if Brazil or Portugal top their group, their reward could arguably be a more difficult fixture against Spain, who are locked in a three-way battle with Chile and Switzerland for a place in the last 16.
