Pulis Rejects Shawcross Departure Claims

Ryan Shawcross will not be leaving Stoke City. That is the message from manager Tony Pulis, who have moved to end speculation about the 21 year old’s future after rumours emerged that he may move to Derby County in a loan deal.

The former Manchester United defender was a key player in Stoke’s surprise promotion success to the Premier League last season. However with the arrival of Abdoulaye Faye and Ibrahima Sonko, Shawcross has only managed one league appearance to date.

Pulis said “Ryan has been part of this club and part of this team and I still think the world of him…He's going to be a top, top player, but that doesn't always mean you're in the team every week”.

Pulis argued that if the club are to stay in the Premier League than he expects to use all of the players in his squad and so it is important to have players like Shawcross at his disposal.

Shawcross made his move to Stoke permanent last year, signing for an initial fee of £1 Million.
