Prime Minister Joins The Greek Celebrations
Greece’s prime minister George Papandreou has hitched onto the national team’s bandwagon after their inaugural World Cup finals success, and first-ever finals’ goals, against Nigeria last Thursday. Papandreou let it be known that he delayed an EU post-summit press conference in Brussels in order to see the end of Otto Rehhagel’s side’s 2-1 triumph. The summit was dealing with issues surrounding the economic crisis currently engulfing Greece. And Papandreou said: “The boys on the national team made us proud. In such a period when Greece has gone through a lot of bad news, it was an important glimmer of light.” Tags: Greece, World Cup, Otto Rehhagel Posted: |
