Portugal have sent an appeal to FIFA to rescind the yellow card picked up by Crisitano Ronaldo during their goalless draw with Ivory Coast.

The Real Madrid player was booked for complaining to the referee after Guy-Roland Demel made a questionable tackle on him on the edge of the penalty area.

 

The official responded to Ronaldo’s complaint by cautioning both players, although the Portuguese argue there was no basis for their man to be shown the yellow card.

Portugal face North Korea next and anything other than a victory would see Carlos Queiroz’s side face an uphill battle to qualify for the last 16.

Meanwhile midfielder Deco insists he is fully behind his manager despite questioning his tactics after their Group G opener.

Deco appeared to show his discontent at being moved out to the wing during the encounter, the player said in a statement that his comments were made in the heat of the moment and it was not his intention to query the coach’s leadership in the World Cup.
