Liverpool look to continue their summer signings after placing a £6.75 million bid for Ajax winger Ryan Babel. The player has been linked with both Arsenal and Newcastle but has become a firm favourite for the Anfield club. Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez secured the signing of Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid and now looks to find someone who can supply the forward.

Media speculation reports that Liverpool tabled the bid for Babel after the Dutch international impressed in the recent European Under 21 tournament. Babel had previously announced a wish to join Arsenal but Liverpool are keen to pounce after missing out on Malouda.
