Pompey offer Kanu new contractNigerian international Kanu has been offered a new one year contract by Portsmouth. Kanu, who scored the winning goal in Portsmouth's historic FA Cup win over Cardiff City, has his contract expiring in the summer. But as per the deal signed last year, the striker's 20 appearances for the South Coast club gives him the chance to stay for another twelve months at Fratton Park. The club are currently waiting for Kanu to put pen to paper.
Portsmouth's FA Cup win allows them to play in Europe next season. They have gained entry into the first round of the UEFA Cup. The idea of playing European football will be extremely tempting for Kanu, who has previously represented clubs like Arsenal and Inter Milan before coming to Portsmouth.
Meanwhile Glen Johnson and Jamie Ashdown have had their FA Cup medals stolen from the Oakley Court Hotel in Berkshire. Police are investigating the case.
In other news, Pompey could lose Niko Kranjcar if Arsenal do decide to pursue their interest in the Croatian midfielder. Tags: Portsmouth, FA Cup, Fratton Park, UEFA Cup, Niko Kranjcar Posted: |
