Pompey Lose Hold on FA Cup

Holders Portsmouth were dramatically knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Swansea at Fratton Park. First half goals from Nathan Dyer and Jason Scotland were enough to send Roberto Martinez’s side through to the fifth round.

Pompey boss Tony Adams admitted that, after Dyer’s 26th minute opener, his side were second best despite the penalty dispatched by Scotland on the stroke of half time appearing to be the result of a foul committed outside the box. However, the overall result was not flattering to the visitors.

“I think we were out-played, out-passed and out-fought,” said Adams, “We didn’t get any luck, but we probably didn’t deserve it“.

Portsmouth must now concentrate on securing their Premiership status. Currently lying a mere 3 points above the relegation zone, Adams must quickly motivate his players to respond well and not allow what was a disappointing day to turn into a disappointing season.
