Ahead of their quarter final clash with Argentina, Germany suffered an injury worry with Lukas Podolski pulling out of a training session with a muscle problem.

 

One of the goal-scoring heroes against England, 25 year-old Podolski was withdrawn from training as a ‘precautionary measure’ by officials and he is expected to be fit for Saturday’s match. However, Cacau remains doubtful with an abdominal muscle strain.

Coach Joachim Low is preparing his squad for their toughest test so far in South Africa. “I expect an unbelievably tight match as we cannot allow ourselves any mistakes because for any mistake we make, they will punish us in an ice-cold way.”

Four years ago, Jens Lehmann benefited from inside information on which side the Argentinean players usually placed the penalty kicks. “This time we need a whole catalogue if you see the quality of players they have in the squad” said Low.
