Since Blackburn Rovers win at Craven Cottge in March 2009, Sam Allardyce’s team have managed only a solitary win away from Ewood Park. The victory at the Reebok against Sam’s old side Bolton Wanderers in November reflects a terrible run of away form that Allardyce is desperate to reverse.

 

Nine goals away from Ewood Park this season tells its own story and the loss at Anfield marked the number of away losses reaching double figures this season. However, a decent showing against Liverpool left Allardyce in optimistic mood that Rovers can end their dismal run. "It was a great shame for the players having put that performance in that they didn't get anything out of it but it has been our Achilles heel all season," said the former Newcastle United manager, "Our downfall is our own fault - particularly in missing chances. I can just hope if they continue to perform like that we will be clinical enough to be able to punish the opposition away from home.”
