Pavlyuchenko Seals £14 Million Spurs MoveTottenham have announced the £14 Million capture of the Russian international striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. The 26 year old joins from Spartak Moscow on a long term contract. He is expected to be outgoing striker Dimitar Berbatov’s long term replacement.
Until now, Pavlyuchenko has spent his entire professional career playing in Russia. He rose to prominence last year when he scored the two goals in Moscow that helped to defeat England and ultimately end their Euro 2008 hopes. The striker has also gone on to impress in the main European Championships this summer, scoring three times as Russia reached the Semi Finals.
Following his arrival at White Hart Lane, Pavlyuchenko said "Everything has happened very quickly so I could not even say goodbye to my team-mates”.
Pavlyuchenko has played for Russia 23 times and has scored 9 goals. Tags: Tottenham, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Spartak Moscow, Euro 2008, White Hart Lane, Russia Posted: 8th September 2008 |
