David Beckham has failed to shake off his ankle injury which has restricted his action since his arrival in America. The big summer signing for LA Galaxy has been surrounded by a media storm that has revived the MLS. However, 32 year old Beckham will now miss out on the clubs SuperLiga clash with Chivas Guadalajara as his injury woe continues.

Beckham featured for his new side last Saturday as they took on English Premier League side Chelsea in a friendly. However, it was little more than a cameo performance as Beckham featured late in the game and did not even touch the ball. LA Galaxy now leave home for a 5 game road trip. Their next 2 matches against FC Dallas and Toronto are already sold out as fans clamour to see Beckham in action.

However, head coach Yallop will not risk his star player whose monumental task is to extend the popularity of soccer in the United States. Beckham has signed a 5 year contract with Galaxy and has plenty of time to impact on the MLS. He realized during the Chelsea game that he was not fit enough to return to action and as a result his role has been restricted.

Yallop stated: "It's not disappointment - it's just being realistic. It would have been great to have him from day one. But what you can't do is a force a player to play when he's not ready. If you force someone like that they just won't play well”.
