Premier League duo Roque Santa Cruz and Paulo da Silva have been named in Paraguay’s final 23-squad for the World Cup as expected.

 

But there was no place for Argentine-based Eduardo Ledesma, Marcos Caceres, Marcelo Estigarribia and Jorge Achucarro after coach Geraro Martino trimmed his squad from 30.

The South Americans played the Republic of Ireland in Dublin last week as part of their preparations for the tournament and lost 2-1.

However, Paraguay recovered from a two-goal deficit to snatch a draw against fellow qualifiers Ivory Coast in their penultimate warm-up game before the tournament kicks off on June 11.
