Hibernian have swooped and signed Newcastle winger Alan O’Brien on a 3 year contract. The 22 year old Republic of Ireland international will join on 1^st July when his contract with Newcastle United expires. Hibs will pay a compensation fee to united in addition to the contract deal.

O’Brien has only had limited first team experience with Newcastle with only 9 first team appearances in 6 seasons. However, he has featured with appearances in his national team for the Republic of Ireland. Hibernian were attracted by O’Brien’s natural pace and will likely feature in the first team for the Scottish Premier League side. O’Brien will be the third signing for Hobs this summer joining Brian Kerr and Clayton Donaldson as new additions at the club.
