Norway put an end to a dismal run of form with a resounding 4-0 victory over Malta in their Euro 2008 qualifier match on Saturday.

Having picked up just one point from last three games, Norway needed a victory to keep their Euro 2008 hopes alive and the team responded with a brilliant performance at the Ullevål Stadium in Oslo. Norway took the lead in the 31st minute with a headed goal from Kristofer Hæstad.

Three goals in the final 17 minutes from Thorstein Helstad, Steffen Iversen and John Arne Riise concluded the proceedings for the Norwegians who will now head into the match against Hungary with supreme confidence. Norway is currently sitting in the fourth position, with 10 points from 6 games.

Meanwhile Hungary's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Greece has left the team with an uphill task if they stand any chances of qualifying for the Euro 2008 finals. Fanis Gekas and Yourkas Seitaridis scored their first goals for Greece as Hungary tried to chalk out a result from the match.

Hungary is now 7 points off the pace from the qualification spot and is placed at fifth position in the table with 6 points from 6 matches.

The game Norway v Hungary is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 on June 6.
