Nolan’s Call To Arms

Newcastle United midfielder Kevin Nolan has called on the team to boost the Magpies Premier League survival chances by winning a second consecutive home game.

The Tyne-Tees derby victory over relegation threatened Middlesbrough pulled Newcastle out of the relegation zone. But with several teams still in contention for one of the unwanted three places in the Championship next season, Nolan is aware of what is required. "It's absolutely massive for us now” said the former Bolton man. “The last time we won was against West Brom, which was a long, long time ago. We didn't follow that up with another win, but we have got two home games back-to-back and we have managed to win one of them. We have got Fulham, who aren't going to be push-overs, but they are not great away from home."

Alan Shearer will also be seeking a repeat of Monday night’s celebrations but will also be wary of taking a feisty Fulham side for granted. Roy Hodgson’s men themselves pulled off a last minute escapology act to maintain their top flight status last year. Shearer will be hoping that he is not waiting until the last game of the season before knowing his teams fate.
