No Brucie Bonus For Rafa

There is a cold wind blowing between the Wear and the Mersey after Sunderland manager Steve Bruce launched a furious attack at his Anfield counterpart over speculation surrounding the future of Black Cats striker Kenwyne Jones.

The Trinidad and Tobago international has been linked with a number of different clubs and, despite the insistence of the club that he is going nowhere, rumours have again surfaced that Jones could move to Liverpool on loan pending a permanent deal.

Bruce said "Kenwyne Jones is not going to go on loan to anybody for the help of Liverpool or anybody else. Every player - every player - has got a price and a valuation. I have to say though, it would have to be a huge amount of money for us even to contemplate it with a week to go in the transfer window.”

While Bruce is determined to hang on to Jones, his hopes of landing Ivory Coast international Guy Demel look to be over. Currently with his country in the African Cup of Nations, the defender has received assurances about his future from the Hamburg chairman and will not be moving to the Premier League. "I will stay with Hamburg. That is certain," said Demel.
