Gianluca Nani has been appointed as the new technical director at West Ham United.

This role has been created by West Ham and they have been looking all over the world for a person they can appoint as technical director. The new role is expected to be a vital position within the club over the next few years.

The man appointed as the technical director had an identical role at Italian side Brescia in 1999. He has now been snapped up by West Ham and he will start in his new position at the beginning of June.

As a technical director his job will involve being in charge of the youth set up, transfers of players coming in and going out of Upton Park and making improvements to the training facilities.

Although Nani will officially start in his new job in June, he has already started working with West Ham manager Alan Curbishley and trying to pick a few players they might sign in the summer out.
