Moyes Keen To Retain Young Guns

After his sides famous 3-1 victory over Manchester United at Goodison Park, Everton boss David Moyes stressed his determination to keep goal heroes Dan Gosling and Jack Rodwell at the club.

 Jack Rodwell

18 year-old Rodwell and Gosling who is only 20 both scored after coming on a second half substitutes. Moyes had nothing but praise for the two players and insisted that Everton are better placed to retain the services of the young stars that they were when Wayne Rooney made his Premier League name on the blue side of Stanley Park.

"They don't let you down. They came in and both of them got a good goal. There's been quite a lot of attention towards Jack Rodwell for a while. I don't think we were quite ready for Wayne when Wayne came on the scene but we're certainly ready for Jack Rodwell.”

Another player making an impression at Goodison Park is American loan player Landon Donovan. David Beckham’s team mate at LA Galaxy has settled in well to Premier League life and six wins from nine matches since his arrival, including a goal and wins against Chelsea, Manchester City and of course United, have led to speculation that Moyes would try to make the move permanent. However, whilst the Scot would love to add the US international to his squad, he is realistic about his chances.

“I think Landon would like to stay but at the moment it probably looks as if not. I wouldn’t want to have any disrespect to his club or the contract he has over there.”
