Moyes Finally Commits Future To Toffees

David Moyes has finally ended any speculation regarding his future after agreeing a new five year contract with Everton.

It has been a difficult start to the season for Moyes. After suffering defeat in the recent derby to Liverpool, Everton have gone out of both the Carling Cup and the UEFA Cup. Amongst the back drop of this, there has been constant speculation about Moyes’ future. There had been suggestions that the 45 year old was ready to quit in the summer after no new transfer funds were made available to him. The new deal ends this speculation.

Moyes said “I am really excited and really pleased. I am pleased for everybody…I'm pleased for myself and my family who were desperate to get it signed and secured and it is always what I wanted to do…It's a great football club and I am privileged to be the manager”.

Chairman Bill Kenwright was undoubtedly pleased at the announcement. He said “I am obviously very pleased that the contract, that I've always believed to be the most important contract, is now concluded”.

Moyes joined Everton from Preston in 2002. Last season he guided the club to fifth place.
