Mourinho's futureThe former manager of Chelsea Claudio Ranieri has stated that the future of the Special One, Jose Mourinho at Abramovich’s club Chelsea will be in doubt if they finish the season with only the Carling Cup. Ranieri recognizes the achievements of Jose Mourinho during a tough season but also adds fuel to speculation that Mourinho will be replaced. Jose Mourinho has now been in charge of the English Premier League team Chelsea for 3 seasons. In that time he has guided the team towards 2 Premiership titles and 2 Carling Cup successes. However, given the stake of investment by Roman Abramovich the Chelsea owner expects success on all fronts. Chelsea have endured a difficult season but have failed to set the world alight. Their form has been unpredictable and they have fallen at smaller hurdles rather than the large ones. Chelsea drew at the weekend against Bolton effectively throwing away their chances of retaining the Premiership title. Now they are out of the Champions League after losing out on penalty shootout to Liverpool at Anfield. The Blues are in the FA Cup Final but must take on Manchester United for any hopes of further silverware. Chelsea’s 2006-07 season has been one of resilience rather than inspiring. They will look to the future to bounce back to winning ways. However, with such a large investment whenever the team loses there is always going to be pressure and speculation surrounding both players and management.
