Mogga Pleased Despite Defeat

Tony Mowbray was pleased with the display his West Brom side gave against Manchester City despite being on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline.

Whilst naturally unhappy with the result, the Baggies boss drew some comfort from the number of chances his team created and that fact that City did not have it all their own way on their home turf. The loss leaves the Hawthorns side within a couple of defeats of relegation back to the Championship. Mowbray admitted that his team probably needs to win all of their remaining five games to have any chance of survival since they now lie nine points from safety and neither defence nor attack have quite been good enough for the top league.

Mowbray also took a swipe at the money element of the game and hinted that even if City signed the likes of Torres and Ferdinand they would still not break into the top four. He said that the gap between the ‘big four’ of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal is just too great for almost any amount of money to bridge. Whilst such signings may make the Baggies a mid-table outfit, the same could not allow the likes of City a place at the highest table.
