Around 2000 Croatian fans showed up to see Croatia's first open training since their arrival. But they were denied a glimpse of Luka Modric as Croatia key player sat out for the session. This was because of a slight achilles tendon injury to his right leg. 

The team suggested that the 22 year- old midfielder was rested as a precaution more than anything, but this injury didn't dampen the sprit of the crowd, who show a lot of enthusiasm for the talented right-winger Darijo Srna as he warmed up in the training pitch in Oberwart. The only thing that affected the festive mood was the sudden downpour halfway through the training.

Next Croatia face off against Germany on the 12^th. They have a very difficult match ahead but a win would take them to the top of the table in Euro 2008. Croatia is in the 2^nd place of their group which is headed by Germany. The other teams are Austria and Poland.
