England under 21 Midfielder James Milner has completed a £12 Million move from Newcastle United to Aston Villa. The transfer came just days after United Manager Kevin Keegan insisted that the 22 year old would not be sold this summer. His comments came after Milner handed in a transfer request, but despite the contradictions Milner arrives at Villa Park on a four year contract.

This will be Milner’s second spell at Aston Villa after he spent the whole of the 2005-2006 season on loan at the club. The period was viewed as a success and the Manager at the time, David O’Leary tried to make the deal permanent but Newcastle changed their minds at the last minute.

Following the announcement of Milner’s transfer, Villa Manager Martin O’Neill said "James has got a great spirit about him and I definitely think his best years are in front of him”.

Milner played 94 times for Newcastle and scored 6 goals.
