German side Bayern Munich are interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso, according to Bayern manager Uli Hoeness.

Bayern Munich want to sign Gattuso to help improve their midfield. They want to improve their squad ahead of the possibility of playing in the Champions League next season as they failed to qualify this season for it.

AC Milan look likely to have a major clear out of their squad over the summer after a disappointing season in Serie A and the Champions League. This may lead to them considering offers for Gattuso.

Real Madrid are another club who are interested in Gattuso, but Bayern Munich are his likely destination. It is rumoured that he has already signed a deal with them until 2011.

Bayern Munich have rejected the rumours about a deal having been agreed, but did express his interest in Gattuso.

He said that no deal between Gattuso and Bayern has been agreed but we are interested in him.
