Milan Ready For Talks With Beckham

AC Milan have confirmed they are set to begin talks with LA Galaxy star David Beckham, over a possible loan move to the Serie A giants.

Beckham is keen to join Milan in order to maintain his fitness as well as bolstering his England prospects, after England manager Fabio Capello warned that any player not playing regular football would not be considered for his squad.

Managing Director Adriano Galliani has hinted that move could go through earlier than the proposed target of January.

"For the moment it seems that he should arrive next week, however Beckham's lawyers will be in Milan today," Galliani said. "We will start the negotiations. I don't know if they will conclude positively or not but I hope and believe they will."

However, current talks are believed to be focused on financial matters dealing with Beckham rather than the actual move. LA want numerous compensation and insurance policies in place should they lose their star player to injury whilst at the San Siro.

Beckham is still set to feature in the MLS side’s Australian tour, where they meet an Oceania All Star team in Auckland on the 6th December. However, LA Galaxy have had to postpone their proposed fixture against Queensland Roar on 11 December after officials admitted Beckham’s availability for the game could not be confirmed.

Beckham caused controversy when he moved to MLS side LA Galaxy in 2007 rather than a number of European and English clubs said to be interested in the midfielder. Since then speculation has surrounded his England future due to the MLS calendar breaking up for the winter, meaning Beckham would miss out on a chance to equal Bobby Moore’s caps.
