Mido Given A Three Match Ban

Mido being sent off against ArsenalStriker Mido will sit out the next three matches for Middlesbrough after it was confirmed by referee Mark Halsey that the Egyptian striker’s red card against Arsenal would not be overturned.

The incident which saw Mido red carded happened during the Premier League match between the two clubs on Saturday. Mido jumped for the ball and ended up kicking Arsenal defender Gael Clichy in the face. He was given a straight red card by Mark Halsey.

After speaking to both the referee for the game, Halsey and the referee’s chief Keith Hackett, Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has decided not to appeal against the red card.

The three match ban means that Mido will miss the games against Manchester United and Derby at home, and the away trip to Chelsea.

After the incident Arsenal full back Gael Clichy was given treatment by the Arsenal physio for a cut to his head.

Gareth Southgate has told of his feelings about the challenge and how he believes that Mido made an honest attempt at getting the ball. Southgate added that appealing against the three match ban was pointless.
