Michael and Bob Bradley could reflect on the USA’s comeback against Slovenia with pride after son Michael brought dad Bob’s side level after coming back from 2-0 down. However, it could have been even better had Maurice Edu’s late volley not been disallowed.

 

“I still don’t know why the goal was disallowed – nobody knows at this moment” said a bemused Bradley senior. Referee Koman Coulibaly spotted an infringement that has seemingly escaped everyone else. Landon Donovan, whose 43^rd international goal started the USA fightback added “I’m a little gutted to be honest. I don’t know how they stole that third goal from us. I saw a good finish and a good goal.”

What was apparent, apart from the fact that both sets of players were pushing in the area, was that the USA are capable of putting up an equally good showing in World Cup 2010 as they did in the Confederations Cup.
