Mensah And Cattermole Set To Return

The returns of Lee Cattermole from suspension and John Mensah from injury have given Sunderland a boost ahead of their clash with Wigan. It will the first time that the former Latic’s midfielder has faced his former team since his move back to the North East. Steve Bruce is not without strength at the back and whether Mensah will be thrown straight in after his injury spell is uncertain.

Midfielder Jordan Henderson has sought the experience of Darren Bent in a bid to improve his goal-scoring this term. With a single goal to his name, Henderson knows that he must look to add goal scoring to goal creation.”Benty’s been absolutely great. I’ve stayed back after training a few times and we work together on shooting. If I can pick up a bit of his experience then I’d love to bring more goals to the side.”

Henderson has also acknowledged his need to learn from those around him and has cited Bolo Zenden as a prime example. “I look at Bolo and his work-rate and he’s a great example for every young player. He’s in his 30’s now and he’s played at some of the world’s biggest clubs, but he’s still got a brilliant attitude to games and training.”
