Polish international striker Ebi Smolarek has agreed to join Premier League Bolton Wanderers for the rest of the season. Manager Gary Megson has moved quickly to bring in reinforcements before the end of the transfer window after it was confirmed striker Johan Elmander would miss the next six weeks after tearing a hamstring.

Smolarek is an established international who figured for Poland during this summer’s European Championships. The 27 year old joins from Spanish La Liga outfit Racing Santander. He joined Racing in 2007 after spending times at Borussia Dortmund in Germany and Feyenoord in Holland.

It is reported that the deal will give Bolton the option to buy Smolarek at the end of the loan for around £4.8 Million.
