Megson Not Depressed By the Blues

A second 4-0 demolition of his side by Chelsea has not diminished the enthusiasm Bolton boss Gary Megson for the continued way in which his charges are improving. Even the top sides would struggle against a rampant Blues with only ten men on the field.

The dismissal of Jlloyd Samuel shortly before half-time with the game scoreless was key to the way in which the second half developed. But Megson was reflective on the backing the team received from the home crowd and the style of play they managed against a mutli-million pounds squad at almost full strength. "There is a change about the club at the moment," Megson said, "We are playing well, everyone is honest, we are having a right good go.”

Striker Kevin Davies backed his boss’s belief that the red card shown to the defender for a tackle on Didier Drogba was critical to the way in which the game panned out. However, he was also realistic that they played a part in their own downfall. "At that point we were playing well and it was just about seeing it out until half time," said Davies. “we were probably on top. The decision was made but the attack should have been stopped.”
