Megson May Target Fernandes Again

Manchester City’s Gelson Fernandes could be on his way to the Reebok after indicating that he is frustrated at the lack of football that has come his way since his move to Eastlands. His appearances have been limited particularly since Vincent Kompany and Nigel de Jong were signed.

The Swiss international almost became a Trotter during the summer of 2008 but the takeover of City stopped the last minute deal. Now Megson could be on his trail again. However, he may face strong competition from the likes of Celtic and Monaco who have both been linked with the player.

Fernandes himself was open about his future. “I'm not a regular in the City team and I'm really not happy about that, and also about my own form. I like Man City but I need to think about my playing time as well so we will see at the end of the season. Monaco is not the only team interested in me."

Megson has also acknowledged that the relegation battle just became a lot harder after Alan Shearer became Newcastle manager. “It is a good move for Newcastle and it makes it a lot harder for everyone else. This has given them their best chance.”
