McLeish Relish As Cash Joins Gold

With David Gold set to remain as Chairman as Karren Brady and David Sullivan depart, Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is keen to get started under the Carson Yeung regime at St Andrews. The Hong Kong businessman is expected to be able to confirm his takeover after acquiring in excess of 80% of the shares in the club and the Scot is looking forward to a fresh impetus at City as well as helping Yeung invest some more of his cash.

McLeish said that the buzz both inside and out side the club is thriving on the new era that is about to start. He said 'I am looking forward to working with the new owners. I am ambitious and they are ambitious and, of course, if there is money to spend, we would welcome it. It is exciting times and something I have great anticipation for.'

The players are expected to echo the managers enthusiasm for the new owners and his advisers. Liam Ridgewell has already indicated his support as the deal progresses. 'There are a lot of new owners coming in during the modern game with a lot of money to invest,' said the defender, “It will be nice to bring in some fresh faces that the gaffer wants.“

With the recent investment in Manchester City fresh in their minds, Blues fans will have high expectations of their new owner.
