McCarthy Signs New Rovers Deal
Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy has signed a new three year contract with the Ewood Park outfit. McCarthy moved to Blackburn from Porto in 2006 and made an instant impact on the Premier League as he scored 24 goals in his first season for Blackburn. However, McCarthy has not scored as many goals this season, but has managed to get into double figures. His strike partner Roque Santa Cruz is top goal scorer, but McCarthy has been an important player for Rovers. Before Jose Mourinho left Chelsea, McCarthy was constantly linked with a move to Chelsea to join up with his former manager but has insisted time and again he is enjoying life at Ewood Park. His new deal will keep him at the club until June 2011 and will be signed and sealed within the next few days. A new work permit for McCarthy is needed but this should be straight forward.
