McCarthy Shows Ruthless Streak

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has stood by his decision to leave out last season’s top scorer Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

The man who scored 25 goals last season did not even feature on the bench for the Liverpool match and McCarthy believes that he has been more than fair this time around. "You can show a player loyalty, support and encouragement and I have played him for around 18 of the last 20 games," said to former Sunderland and Eire boss, "But eventually you have to think about making a change and we've got people here like Chris Iwelumo and Stefan Maierhofer chomping at the bit to play."

Ebanks-Blake has only scored once this season in the Premier League and that was a penalty. However, he is likely to travel to Hull at the weekend although his participation is not guaranteed. McCarthy went on to say "Sylvan is a striker who has got his kudos in the game from scoring goals. He has played well in some games this season but it does come to the point where it is not getting easier to score and he has to come out of the side."
