Martinez Tries To Calm Latics NervesWigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez was frustrated by his team’s inability to hit the net against relegated Pompey and has admitted that he fears his charges are feeling the pressure.
The goalless draw left Wigan a mere 5 points above the drop zone but despite the drop in form, the positions of Burnley, West Ham and Hull look at lot worse and the Spaniard is confident that his team can survive.
"It has been such a hard season it was one of those fixtures which you look at and you feel it is three points, but football does not work like that," said Martinez. “It is about not letting all the feelings affect your performance. The confidence is there, but during the game when nothing goes your way it affects your performance. There are no easy games between now and the end of the season but what is important is we keep our cool and composure."
Midfielder Ben Watson has indicated that he believes his future may lie away from Wigan. He spent time on loan at West Bromwich Albion and would reportedly be happy to consider a return to the Hawthorns if conditions were right. Tags: Wigan Athletic, Roberto Martinez, Wigan Posted: |
