We had a few other clubs that approached us with the idea of having Ben." A further loan spell would appear very likely with Cardiff being linked with an approach for the player.

Meanwhile, former Birmingham City man Olivier Kapo seems destined to end his spell at Wigan, albeit it on a temporary basis, by joining Boulogne for the remainder of the season. Less than two dozen appearances in a year and a half have made the ex-Juventus player an expensive luxury for Wigan and the move may be good for both sides.
