Man Utd Close In On TevezWest Ham striker Carlos Tevez again makes the headlines with talks of a move to Premier League champions Manchester United. Discussions are well under way to move Tevez either on loan or as a permanent fixture. The Argentine international caused uproar during the course of last season both on and off the pitch. His on pitch performances put him in the limelight and made Tevez a target for many top teams. 23 year old Carlos Tevez is currently on international duty playing for Argentina in the current Copa America tournament in Venezuela. After surviving relegation West Ham aimed to keep their top striker but the lure of European football with Premiership champions United seems to have proved too much. The potential transfer of Carlos Tevez is complicated by the controversy that surrounded the player last season. The nature of the loan agreement that the player has with West Ham leads to very uncertain ground when cou pled with any transfer speculation. West Ham were fined £5.5 million last season due to irregularities over the player’s contracts. It is still uncertain who actually owns the player but it is expected that any permanent move would involve a huge transfer fee. What is more likely is that an extended loan deal is completed which would create a deal similar to that of Javier Mascherano but for a much lower fee. Carlos Tevez has only recently stepped into the limelight. He first arrived at Upton Park under Alan Pardew but failed to win a prominent role until Curbishley took control in December 2006. His form at the end of the season was phenomenal as he scored seven goals in 10 appearances and secured the Premiership survival of the club. If Tevez goes ahead and signs for United he would add to an amazing summer spending spree for Sir Alex Ferguson. Manchester United have already signed Owen Hargreaves, Nani, Anderson and Tomasz Kuszczak clearly placing their intentions for the upcoming season.
