Magnusson Wants Ban

After the saga surrounding Carlos Tevez West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson is calling on governing body FIFA to ban third part ownerships. Events of the past few months have left a bitter taste which has been felt throughout the English Leagues. Issues with ownership have tarnished the image of the Premier League and caused arguably the relegation of one club and later the persecution of West Ham both as fines and loss of transfer revenue.

The issue with Carlos Tevez went all of the way to the English High Court before the Hammers accepted a £2 million out of court settlement from the players agent. This subsequently resulted in the release of the player who then signed for Premiership champions Manchester United.

Magnusson declared: "This whole Tevez stuff has opened up everybody's eyes. It's not healthy for football. I hope they (FIFA) look seriously into this."
