Liverpool v Middlesbrough

It was a easy victory for Liverpool which put them back third in table with a 2-0 win over the Boro. Middlesbrough have battled against the big teams this season but never quite managed to show any great performances.

With only 5 attempts from Boro compared to the 18 from Liverpool the match was a little one sided. A Gerrard doubled secured the full 3 points for Liverpool. After a quiet first half Gerrard opened the scoring in the 58th minute with a 30 yard strike -  a typical Gerrard goal. Later in the 65th minute a tug on Peter Crouch’s shirt by Andrew Davies, led to the referee Graham Poll awarding a penalty for Liverpool. The spot kick was tucked away by the captain leading to a final score of 2-0. Man of the Match was Steven Gerrard

This result moves Liverpool up to third and currently claiming the champions league spot. Middlesbrough have not performed well this season, their aim will be to finish the season with some semblance of form.
