Lescott Takes Campbells Place

Joleon Lescott of Premiership side Everton will take injured Sol Campbell’s placed in the England squad for the crucial qualifying games against Israel and Russia. The 25 year old defender has produced excellent form including scoring 2 goals – no easy feat for a defensive player. Portsmouth veteran defender Sol Campbell was forced to withdraw from the England Euro 2008 side after picking up a hamstring injury.

Everton manager David Moyes has no doubts over the capabilities of the player who has helped the team to a healthy start in the Premiership. However, from a fans point of view the pickings are getting dangerously thin with so many big names injured or unavailable for McClaren.
