Larsson plays in O’Donnell tributeSweden and Celtic legend Henrik Larsson took a day off from his Euro 2008 preparations to participate in a tribute match for the late Phil O'Donnell. A game looming up against Slovenia didn’t prevent Larsson from honoring his former Celtic team-mate. Larsson said. "It was very important for me to come back,"
Larsson played for Celtics championship winning side of 1998 against Motherwell legends. After suffering an injury scare very early on in the game, the Swedish striker came back after 10 minutes of treatment to smash in a volley for his team in a 5-1 victory.
But the day was dedicated to the former Motherwell skipper, who died on December 29th at the age of 35 , due to heart failure. 60,000 people gathered at Celtic park to remember the Scottish hero. Larsson also called Phil “a great guy” and a “calm talker in the dressing room.”
